Darius Slay, Mekhi Becton injury update: Eagles CB, right guard injured in game vs Giants

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. − Eagles right guard Mekhi Becton left the game after the first quarter with a concussion, and was ruled out for the rest of the game Sunday against the Giants .

He was followed late in the first half by cornerback Darius Slay, who was limping after a hit in the final seconds of the half. There was no word yet on Slay's injury, but he was listed as questionable for the game after suffering a knee injury against the Browns.

Slay returned to start the second half.

Becton, meanwhile, had become a key component at right guard after spending his first four seasons as a left tackle with the Jets, who made him their first-round pick in 2020.

The Eagles signed Becton to a one-year deal in the spring as a swing tackle. But Becton moved to right guard when Tyler Steen was injured in training camp. Then Becton won the job outright. He was playing so well that the Eagles kept him at right guard when Jordan Mailata was placed on injured reserve on Friday.

They replaced Mailata with Fred Johnson. Steen took over for Becton.

Isaiah Rodgers replaced Slay for the Giants' final few plays of the first half.
