DOVER — The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch ending Wednesday evening for Delaware's two southern counties, as well as a heat advisory ending Wednesday morning.

According to the agency, “feels like” temperatures over the next three days could be up to 110 degrees.

In addition, the weather service issued an air quality alert for the entire state for Monday, with the air quality index value expected to be in the 101-150 range, or "orange." This is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.

With this overlap for individuals sensitive to heat and to air quality, the NWS recommends checking on neighbors and relatives.

Sussex County has opened several cooling stations for those needing relief during the heat wave.
