There are countless ways to enjoy pickles. They’re delicious straight from the jar, diced in relish, layered on top of a sandwich, or even as deep-fried chips. This Pennsylvania Festival will show you even more ways to enjoy them.
Watch the video shared on July 21 for additional tasty ideas. It might make you wonder why you’ve never thought to create these savory treats yourself.
This looks like a fun place to visit! But even if you can’t, this festival is a great place to get ideas for making at home. I’m especially interested in the street corn pickles Ashly (@ actually_ashly ) tested. They appeared covered in cotija cheese and seasoning, which looked incredibly tasty. This could easily be duplicated in our kitchens, and it’s even a low-carb idea. While she wasn’t a massive fan of the pickle shaved ice, describing his tasting like a water-down pickle, she enjoyed the pickle on the side. She also reports that the pickle cheesesteak was yummy; however, she would’ve preferred it to come with pickle sauce rather than relish. The winner of the day was the deep-fried pickle tots. As a bonus, they were even served with a side of pickle-flavored ranch . Wow!

When Is the Next PicklesBURGH?
If you missed this year’s PicklesBURGH , don’t worry; it will return in July 2025. The event is held in downtown Pittsburgh, and instead of driving in and dealing with parking headaches, you can take the light rail free of charge. Until then, we can try some of these great ideas. There’s currently the viral watermelon sandwich taking the internet by storm. This brilliant concept uses the melon as the “bread,” a layer of thinly sliced pickles, cheese, and a drizzle of balsamic. It should hold us over until we can taste this creation next summer.
People were on board with this unique idea. One person shared, “I went to Picklesburgh. There are a few more things to add to your list to try: Pickled Grilled Cheese, Fried Pickles on a stick, Great Lakes pickle beer, and pickle pizza. I didn’t like the hotdog in a pickle or any of the desserts! It was so fun, and I highly recommend it!” The pickle-grilled cheese sounds fantastic! Viewer @romeyromme remarked, “They have pickle food festivals like this? I need to be with all the other pickle lovers!!! People hate pickles where I’m from.” This is a place you would be among friends. Others noted this event was very crowded, and the lines were long, but as Ashly pointed out, it may be best to go on a Thursday or Friday or at the beginning of the day to beat the crowds.
Even though we may have missed this unique event, thankfully, with fall approaching, there will be many more festivals to enjoy.
