It’s not typical for younger children to enjoy strong-flavored dishes. These culinary options can be overwhelming for their young palettes, especially in this modern age, where bland food is the norm. However, early exposure can help them expand their horizons, and when they learn to make these meals themselves, it can get them even more excited about trying new things.

This 3-year-old girl defies convention by enjoying and preparing divine dishes like duck. Her unique combination of a bubbly personality and impressive culinary skills could very well land her a spot on the Food Network in the future.

Watch this little darling preparing dinner in this video from August 9:

She is just too precious! It’s hard to believe Penny (@ chefpennykay ) is only three years old and so excited to get cooking. She’s unafraid to get her hands dirty and is happy to begin seasoning the duck breast, even creating a little song while she works. Once the duck is ready, it’s time to smash those potatoes, which she does like an expert. Her vocabulary is sensational as she adds each ingredient, even taste-testing a few. While she may have enjoyed the blueberry, the Dijon mustard wasn’t so enjoyable, but she wasn’t phased by that either. What a trooper! When it was taste time to taste the fruits of her labor, her eyes were big, and her smile wide with pride from her work and the tastiness of the meal.

The Difference Between Duck and Chicken Breasts

Duck has a stronger, more gamey flavor compared to chicken. It can handle more robust seasonings, fruits such as oranges or cherries , and bold sauces . Duck has a higher fat content, so special attention is needed, especially when using techniques like scoring the skin to help the fat render out during cooking and give it a crispy finish. According to Vincents Meat Market, duck is also cooked at a lower temperature for longer to achieve a tender, juicy finish.

People enjoyed watching this young chef prepare a very grown-up dish. Viewer @thegirlcasey responded, “Future French restaurant head chef, and she’s adorable to boot. Thanks for brightening my day with this adorable video!” I’d gladly eat wherever she was cooking. Viewer @made.byrosemarie remarked, “This is great. Kids will eat healthier and more varied foods if they participate in the making.” It’s so true!

It’s lovely to see kids involved in preparing meals while trying new things. Penny will undoubtedly grow up with a greater appreciation for food while making core memories with her family.
