If you’re a wine enthusiast, you may think of northern California as the premier destination for American wines. While they undoubtedly have one of the finest selections in the country, other states have hidden gems that offer an equally delightful experience.

This stunning riverfront destination in Colorado is one of them. In addition to exceptional food and wines, it boasts one of the most breathtaking views imaginable, and the tale of how it came to be is a true inspiration.

Check out this video, shared on August 19, to see why you should add it to your bucket list.

Now, this is waterfront dining! Just imagine the peace of having a beautiful flowing river at your feet while you sip your favorite drink. McKenna (@ vivafortravel ) reveals that Aspen Peak Cellars in Bailey, Colorado , serves their delicious food and wine indoors, on the patio, or by the water in these charming cabanas. It looks like something out of a dream! They have a full menu that offers something for everyone, including baked Brie En Croute , charcuterie boards , dinner entrees, and even flatbread pizzas. But how they arrived at this riverfront location is genuinely uplifting.

This beautiful location is owned by trained chefs Marcel and Julie Flukiger, who have been locals in the Denver Foothills community since the mid-90s. Their passion for wine-making began as a hobby but soon became a booming business. However, their journey to success didn’t come easy. Their first location, established in 2009, was struck by lightning in 2011, resulting in a fire and the loss of their special events venue. However, they persevered and transformed an automotive repair facility into a bigger and better location. Unfortunately, in 2016, a runaway semi truck plowed through the building, destroying everything they had worked to build. Thankfully, with the support of their community, they reconstructed from the ground up, taking advantage of the views of the magnificent property. In 2018, they opened this new location, which includes the patio and riverfront dining offered today.

Locals shared their experiences with this unique location. Viewer @baileyaframe reported, “It’s a favorite with our guests! The chef is from Switzerland, and they make their own wine... Award-winning wine! In the winter, on the weekends, they offer snowshoeing and fondue. Pets are allowed on the patio, which is perfect for our guests who travel with theirs. Worth a day trip or weekend getaway!” That’s great to know. Viewer @sloppyjolene_ responded, “A Bailey local here, this winery is fantastic. If you plan on visiting, please remember that videos like this boost their business; while that is terrific, it can also be stressful. Know that your servers are people and can get overwhelmed. They are all wonderful individuals, including the chefs and owners, so please be kind. They are working their butts off to provide the best experience for as many as they can.” That’s good to remember for all who work in this challenging industry.

If you plan to visit Denver, this beautiful stop is only an hour outside the city. With all they offer, it’s undoubtedly a trip worth making.
