Rice Lake’s 12U youth baseball team is competing at the Wisconsin Little League State Tournament in Kenosha. As the District 3 selection, Rice Lake is one of six teams in the tournament. Merrill Fire Department shares video of power line fire that knocked out service to 5,000 customers
MERRILL, Wis. (WSAW) - The Merrill Fire Department has released a video of a fire caused by a branch that damaged a powerline Monday. It happened around 6:30 p.m. at the alley in the 1300 block of East 8th St. in Merrill. The outage initially affected approximately 5,000 customers. The Merrill Fire Department said a tree branch was lying across high voltage power line and causing significant arcing and flames.

MILWAUKEE – Many restaurants and bars didn’t reap the economic benefits of the Republican National Convention. “There were (restaurants) staffed up, were open, and no one was there,” said Kristine Hillmer, CEO of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association. “They had expenses, labor, supplies, in their facility. One of seven arrested after the execution of a search warrant back in May appeared in Portage County Court on Monday. Back on May 22nd, members of the Stevens Point/Plover SWAT Team executed a search warrant at 2817 Water St. in Stevens Point. The team then executed another search warrant at 500 Forest St. The warrants were narcotics related and multiple individuals were expected to be at each residence.
