There will be three Bayside South teams partaking in the MPSSAA's baseball state quarterfinals on Friday, as Parkside, Mardela and Stephen Decatur each grabbed regional titles Tuesday to continue their stellar seasons.

Stephen Decatur, fresh off of grabbing a Bayside Championship last week, added some more hardware this season with their Class 3A Regional Championship victory over Severna Park.

After jumping out to a 3-0 lead early in the game, Severna Park would come all the way back and tie things up at 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning to force extras. But with a runner on third base in the bottom of the eighth, a walk-off base-hit by Eric Braica sealed the deal for the Seahawks, winning the 3A East I Region 4-3.

Defending 2A State Champion Parkside faced a similarly close battle in their 2A East II Regional final against Queen Anne's, as the Rams had to go on the road in hopes of making another appearance in the state quarterfinals. And the Rams did just that, defeating Queen Anne's 2-1 behind a stellar outing on the mound by Parkside pitcher Chase Shepherd, who pitched a complete game and struck out eight batters. Storm Hartman scored both runs for Parkside off of RBIs from Connor Bailey and Casey Parsons.

In Class 1A Baseball, history was made Tuesday afternoon, as the Mardela Warriors won their first ever Regional Championship in baseball, defeating Snow Hill 7-3 on the road. It was an all-round effort for the Warriors, with Brady and Colby Colwell on the mound, and big performances at the place by players like Evan Birch and Ethan Roberts.

The state quarterfinals are scheduled to be played on Friday, May 17, with each matchup TBA.
