Rotary Club awards scholarships to Delta County graduating seniors
ESCANABA — The Rotary Club of Escanaba awarded four scholarships to 2024 high school graduates from Delta County at its annual dinner meeting, held on June 25 at the Highland Golf Club. Additionally, the Rotary Trust Board, an organization committed to serving children with special needs, awarded three scholarships to 2024 high school graduates of Delta County.
Bay College to raise its tuition rates, student fees
ESCANABA — Bay college is raising tuition and student fees for the upcoming academic year. According to a press release, there is a “modest” increase in tuition as well as student fees for the 2024-2025 academic year. The increase in tuition is an average of 3.5 percent.
Legion holds flag disposal ceremony
GLADSTONE — August Mattson American Legion Post 71 held a Flag Day Dignified Disposal of Unserviceable Flags Ceremony on June 14, at the Delta County Veterans Park. Sandy Valdezate, Legion Post 71 Commander, presided over the ceremony, along with the Sons of the American Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary. The ceremony was performed to bring proper respect to disposing of American Flags.

Officials investigating cause of semi crash on M-35
PERKINS — Investigation is underway into the semi truck crash that closed down part of the M-35 on Tuesday. At roughly 3:55 a.m., a call came in concerning a semi truck that veered off the roadway and flipped over into a ditch on the M-35 between Rock and Perkins near Trombley 35th Road. It was a one-vehicle accident with minor injuries reported to the driver of the semi. The truck was carrying up to 8,000 gallons of diesel when the crash occurred. It is still not known how many gallons of oil were spilled in the ditch. It is also unknown what caused the crash.
