Arrest made in deadly Rochester stabbing

Rochester police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred earlier this week.

On Aug. 20, around 10:30 a.m., Brandon Wyand, 31, was stabbed in the upper body at the corner of Joseph Avenue and Seabrook Street. Wyand was taken to the University of Rochester Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, police said.

Justin Porter, 32, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing. Police said Porter accidentally dropped a stash of narcotics on Avenue D, which Wyand discovered while walking down the street. Upon realizing Wyand had found his lost drugs, Porter tracked him down and stabbed him, police said.

Porter was scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday in Rochester City Court.
