Buffalo-native Jessica Pegula has a chance to make it to her first major semifinal Wednesday if she can best the current top-ranked women's tennis player.

Pegula — who's ranked sixth — will be facing off against No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the U.S. Open tournament quarterfinals round Wednesday, Sept. 4.

"Pegula has established herself as one of the best players in the women’s game in recent years, but she has been frequently stymied at this round in the majors, going 0-6 in quarterfinals in her Grand Slam singles career. Her summer, however, indicates that this might be the year she breaks through." the U.S. Open's women's quarterfinals preview states. "Her run through the draw in Flushing Meadows has been flawless; Pegula has yet to drop a set."

    Here's what to know.

What to know: Will DirecTV blackout of some channels affect Bills vs Cardinals viewing?

DirecTV customers may not have access to match

For 11 million DirecTV subscribers, many channels went dark Sunday as DirecTV and Disney's current five-year contract to keep Disney's content on DirecTV's satellite and streaming services, including U-Verse TV , ended Sunday, Sept. 1. Talks reached a stalemate and DirecTV blacked out all Disney channels.

Without a new contract, DirecTV viewers may miss ESPN's broadcast of the U.S. Open tennis championships , which culminates over the week.

"The U.S. Open tennis tournament is streaming live on ESPN+," a DirecTV spokesperson said Tuesday. "Disney typically streams that same action live on ESPN.com and its ESPN app, but Disney has closed down that access too. It is in the process of removing all consumer access to its network-specific websites and apps to drive more consumers into its streaming video services like ESPN+, Disney+, and Hulu."
