Two men were shot Thursday afternoon on North Clinton Avenue in Rochester.

Officers were called to North Clinton Avenue, just south of Clifford Avenue, around 3 p.m. after ShotSpotter noted gunshots in the area, said Capt. Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department. Responding officers found two men who had been shot.

A plain-clothes officer was in the area when the shooting occurred and quickly applied what appeared to be a "life-saving tourniquet" to one of the injured men, Bello said.

Both shooting victims were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment, Bello said.

The shooting remains under investigation. Bello said a backpack with "a significant quantity of suspected narcotics" was located with the two men.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 911.
