A chance of showers and thunderstorms could make for treacherous conditions when the Buffalo Bills take on the division rival Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football.

Miami Gardens, the home of Hard Rock Stadium, should see sweltering midday conditions and a chance of showers, with the possibility of showers and thunderstorms extended late into the evening. The Dolphins play on a natural grass field, which means conditions could be slick and muddy by kickoff at 8:15 p.m.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for likely showers and possible thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The high temperature should be around 91 degrees, though humidity will raise the heat index as high as 103 degrees. A chance of showers and thunderstorms will persist from 8 p.m. through the end of the day, with a 60% chance of precipitation and a light south wind. The predicted low temperature will be 79 degrees.

The AccuWeather forecast calls for 81 degrees and partly cloudy conditions with thunderstorms at kickoff. From there it paints a slightly rosier picture for gametime conditions, with partly cloudy conditions persisting and temperatures in the upper 70s, but no specific calls for precipitation. The chance of precipitation drops to 30% by 11 p.m.

The over/under for the game is 51 points, but primetime divisional games have been notoriously low-scoring. BetMGM found outdoor Thursday and Monday games with a line between 49.5 and 57 are 44-19 in favor of the under since 2004.

    • The Bills and Dolphins will play on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 8:15 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium. The game is streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime , except for Buffalo’s ABC affiliate, WKBW. Al Michaels, Kirk Herbstreit and Kaylee Hartung will call the game.
