Khalil Shakir was the lone returning Buffalo Bills wide receiver to catch a pass from Josh Allen entering this season.
He's been catching all of them Allen throws his way.
Shakir, a third-year wide receiver, could set a new NFL standard for reception perfection. He has hauled in 27 consecutive targets, which ties Michael Thomas' mark in 2018 for the longest streak in the NFL by a wide receiver since such stats were tracked in 1991.
Shakir's string of consecutive catches spans 2023 and 2024. He's caught all 14 targets this year, with season highs of six catches, 72 yards and a touchdown in the 47-10 dismantling of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football. He also caught his 13 targets in the 2023 regular season.
To put that into perspective, Nick Foles (2018) and Philip Rivers (2018) hold the record for most consecutive pass completions in a game with 25. Ryan Tannehill completed 25 straight passes over a two-game span in 2015.
The synergistic performance between Allen and Shakir surpasses those individual quarterback streaks.
"I could say this over and over, (Shakir's) a freaking football player, emphasis on football," Allen said after the Bills win over the Jaguars. "He loves the game. He does things the right way. He's so selfless in his approach throughout the week. He may get two passes during practice.
"He just keeps finding ways to be in the right spot at the right time, and he makes plays. That's just kind of his M.O. I freaking love him. I'm so proud of him and his trajectory that he's gone in his career so far."
Shakir had the best catch percentage of any wide receiver in the NFL at 86.7% last year.
The Bills (3-0) travel to play the Baltimore Ravens (1-2) at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday Night Football.
