ORCHARD PARK - Because they were selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens will forever have comparisons drawn between their careers.
That was a memorable QB draft with Baker Mayfield going No. 1 overall to the Browns, Sam Darnold going No. 3 to the Jets, Allen No. 7 to the Bills, Josh Rosen No. 10 to the Cardinals, and then Jackson No. 32, the final pick of the first round, to the Ravens.
Clearly, Allen and Jackson have separated themselves in that QB class because as they negotiate their way through their seventh NFL seasons, both have risen to superstar status and, if they continue down the paths they have already forged, they will wind up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame sometime in the next 20 or 25 years depending on how long they play.

And what’s fascinating about that is when you flash back to the pre-2018 draft process, Allen and Jackson were the most polarizing QBs in that fivesome, the ones with the most questions.
“Yeah, I think (our stories are) similar in their own rights, but they’re also different,” Allen said. “But the fact is, I don’t think anybody thought that - maybe other than the people in our buildings - thought that we’d still be playing right now.”
The QB matchup alone is enough to warrant the Bills at Ravens Week 4 game being placed into the biggest prime-time window on Sunday Night Football, but this is also a showdown that could have major playoff seeding implications by year’s end.
Even though the Ravens have started 1-2, they remain a legitimate Super Bowl contender, and the 3-0 Bills are right there as well, so there’s a lot on the line at M&T Bank Stadium.
“Really well-coached team, and they were in full effect against Dallas,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said. “We’re going to have our work cut out for us, that’s for sure.”
