A toddler found unresponsive in a bathtub of a Chili home last week has died, according to Monroe County sheriff's deputies.

On Oct. 3, deputies were called to a home on Powers Lane just before 1:20 p.m., after the child was found unresponsive in a bathtub, said Deputy Brendan Hurley of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Deputies performed life-saving measures on the toddler, who was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Hurley on Tuesday afternoon announced that the toddler, who was nearly 2 years old, has died. The child's name was not released.

"Our hearts go out to the family as they mourn his loss," Hurley said in a news release.
