The Buffalo Bills travel to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to face the New York Jets in Week 6.
It's not too much of a stretch to say the Monday night game could change the course for both teams for the rest of the season.
The Bills , 3-2, are 2.5-point favorites over the 2-3 Jets , according to BetMGM . The money line is Bills -145 (bet $145 to win $100) and Jets (bet $100 to win $120). The over-under is 41 points.
Most NFL analysts expect the Bills to bounce back after two straight losses to good teams, according to our weekly roundup of experts.
Sal Maiorana writes: "Both teams are coming into the game riding two-game losing streaks and while that isn’t exactly breaking news for the Jets, it is for the Bills. They haven’t lost three regular season games in succession since 2018, Josh Allen ’s rookie season, and the last season in which the Bills did not make the playoffs. Buffalo’s passing game will have all kinds of trouble, but Cook could be the key, and the Bills’ defense might be getting back a couple key pieces. However, the Bills will also be dealing with the Jets' decision to fire head coach Robert Saleh , so now the new coach bump, which is so often a thing when teams change coaches, could be a factor."
Jeremy Cluff writes: "Both teams have lost two in a row and can't afford a third straight defeat. We expect a shootout on Monday night, with Josh Allen making a key play late to secure the win for Buffalo."
Albert Bainbridge IV writes: "Urgency should be on full display here with both teams trying to desperately avoid a three-game losing streak with no rest in sight as they both don't have a bye until Week 12. This comes down to which offense do you trust more right now, and to me that's clearly the Bills, who come out on top against the Jets for the seventh time in the last nine meetings."
ESPN's Football Power Index gives Buffalo a 54.9% chance of winning.
Vinnie Iyer writes: "The Jets need this kind of get-well home offensive matchup against a bad running back defense. The Bills are giving up 4.6 yards per carry as part of allowing 144 rushing yards per game. They also allow a league-worst 62.5 receiving yards per game to the position. That should get Breece Hall and Braelon Allen back on track to ease the pressure on Aaron Rodgers. The Jets fire first in this tough battle for first place in what's looking like a lesser-than-expected AFC East.
Dimers writes: "After extensive simulations, our model gives the Bills a win probability of 58%."
Pete Prisco writes: "The Bills are out on the road for a third straight week, while the Jets are looking to get a bounce from the firing of coach Robert Saleh. It will be interesting to see how this team responds. Aaron Rodgers clearly was not happy with the direction of the team, but it's on him to change that. Josh Allen has struggled against the Jets, so look for a low-scoring game with the Bills finding a way with a late score."
Iain MacMillan writes: "The Jets' defense is one of the most elite units in the NFL, but they can be had on the ground. They've allowed 4.2 yards per carry this season while ranking 15th in opponent Rush EPA and 25th in opponent Rush Success Rate. That's going to bode well for the Bills, who are at their best when they're able to run the ball effectively.
Then there's the topic of the Jets offense. Despite having a four-time MVP at quarterback, their offense has been almost just as bad as they were last year with the likes of Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle, and Jarrett Stidham.
They're averaging only 0.4 more yards per play and 0.3 more yards per throw this season compared to last year.
The Bills defense has been solid this year and I foresee them giving Rodgers fits as he comes to the term with the fact he's a shell of his former self.
The market is still too high on the Jets. I'll fade them on Monday Night Football.
