Bob Dylan tweets about meeting Buffalo Sabres in Prague but, as usual, leaves a mystery

Bob Dylan joined X/Twitter in 2009, and for years his account was used mostly by his handlers to promote concerts and box-set releases.

Recently, though, the legendary folk-blues rocker himself seems to have taken the controls, offering a string of random and not-very-timely thoughts.

On Sept. 30, for instance, he mourned the death of comedy giant Bob Newhart.

“I just found out the other day that Bob Newhart was gone. Rest in peace Bob. You brought us a lot of joy.”

    Newhart died July 18.

All that touring probably makes it hard to keep up with current events.

Last night, out of nowhere, Dylan posted this: “I ran into one of the Buffalo Sabres in the elevator at the Prague hotel. They were in town to play the New Jersey Devils. He invited me to the game but I was performing that night.”

The Sabres-Devils games in the Czech Republic were Oct. 4 and 5 (the Sabres lost both of them), so he waited at least four days to share the news.

Also, he wrote that he ran into the Sabres, plural, but added, “He invited me to the game.” He who? Did Dylan encounter multiple Sabres or an individual team member? It will likely remain a mystery. Like most of Dylan’s recent tweets.

One on Sept. 25 — “Happy Birthday Mary Jo! See you in Frankfort.” — inspired an entire Rolling Stone article about her possible identity.

Responded a fan, “i don’t know man, i’m just glad bob said something!”
