    The Villa

    The After Hours Book Club will present “The Villa” a book by Rachel Hawkins on June 27 at 5:15 p.m. at the Demopolis Public Library.

    Farmer’s Market

    The Main Street Demopolis Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon downtown in Public Square. This week’s market will have live music from The Bluegrass Cartel. There will also be food, fun, fresh vegetables and homemade foods. For more information or to sign up, contact Rhae at 601-917-8661.

    Linden BBQ Cook Off

    The Linden BBQ Cook-Off will be June 28 at Chilly Fest Park.  For more information call Kelly Anthony at 334-422-3004. Applications can be picked up at City Hall.

    Basketball Camp

    On July 1-2, The Marcus Campbell “Future Star” Basketball Camp returns to York.  For more Information contact 205-499-6015.

    Freedom on the River

    Freedom on the River will be Thursday, July 4 at the Demopolis City Landing. Children’s activities will kick off at 5 p.m., including Boo Boo the Clown, arts and crafts, a water slide and a foam machine. A children’s parade will take place at 7. Live entertainment will be provided by White Bluff Association from 5 until 9. Food trucks will be onsite throughout the event. Fireworks will begin at 8:30.     Hwy. 80 Songwriters Festival

    The Hwy. 80 Songwriters Festival will be held Saturday, July 6, from 7-10 p.m. at the Demopolis Civic Center. The schedule includes Matt Cooper, Frank Fields and Josiah Rodda from 7-8 p.m.; Mark True, Dunning/Grayson and Taylor Craven from 8-9 p.m.; and Daniel Howze, Dustin Pounders and Debbie Bond from 9-10 p.m. Admission is free. Attendees may bring their own snacks and drinks.

    4-H Day Camps

    The Marengo County 4-H Summer Camps will be July 9-10 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Marengo County Extension Office. The Art Camp is July 9  and costs $15 while the Top Chef Camp is July 10 with a $10 cost. The camp is for ages 9-18. For more information or to sign up, please call 334-295-5959.

    Rockin’ on the River

    The Rockin’ on the River Summer Concert Series will be held every Thursday in July at the Landing. Presented by the Demopolis Chamber of Commerce and the City, the public is invited to bring chairs and coolers to the free event, where there will be food trucks and live music. The dates for the series are July 11, 18 and 25. For more information, please contact chamber director Monica King at (334) 289-0270.
