The Hwy. 80 Songwriters Festival featured a number of local and nearby artists Saturday, July 6, at the Demopolis Civic Center.

The event has been going on in Demopolis for at least the past 10 years.

The event is designed to showcase local songwriters, and this is one of the several Hwy. 80 Songwriters Festivals on the route. Admission was free to the event, and guests were encouraged to bring their own food and drinks.

Some of the songwriters included Mutt Cooper, Frank Fields, Josiah Rodda, Mark True, Dunning/Grayson, Taylor Craven, Daniel Houze, Dustin Pounders and Debbie Bond.

Some of the sponsors for the event include Dominos Pizza, Fleming Photography, City of Demopolis, Two Rivers Lumber, River City Inflatables/Blast Bros, Sumter Timber, H&M Construction and Pepsi Bottling of Selma.
