If you're looking for a way to maximize your space while also creating something new and exciting, you're going to want to see how one woman turned a few IKEA Billy Bookcases into a build-in day bed.

This setup has everything from plenty of storage to the option to turn this double bed into a king! And while this handy woman admits that she's unlikely to be the first person to ever attempt something like this, she does believe that she's onto something big here.

We have to agree, because after watching this we're wondering if there isn't an easy way for us to do something similar in our home so that we can maximize our space while getting a bit more organized.

I used 4 Billy bookcases and the twin sized Brimnes bed from IKEA to build a customs built in bed for our guest bedroom & today I finally finished!! What do you think?! I’m going to let the paint fully cure before adding anything to the shelves or doing anything crazy in here but I’m already loving how it turned out! #brimnesbedhack #billybookcasehack #builtinbed #bedwithstorage #builtin #custombuiltins #ikeabuiltins #billybookcase #diy #doityourself #diymama #paintwithme #finishedproject #ikeahack #bedroominspo #guestbedroomideas ikea room inspiration, billy bookcase hack, ikea hack, brimnes bed hack, ikea bedroom ideas, guest bedroom makeover

The super cool thing about the way @morganzuhmakes set her IKEA build up is that she turned the bookcases so that they faced the bed as well as the rest of the room. This gives her an accessible place where she could stash a phone charger, alarm clock, or a glass of water so that it's easy to get to while you're laying down, but not so obvious to anyone who first walks into the room.

That leaves those forward facing shelves open for more aesthetically minded items, like maybe a few plants or photos.

The only downside the that OP can see (for now) is that you'll definitely need to stand on the mattress when adding stuff to those top shelves. Whether or not that's a deal breaker for you is a whole different story, but for us it seems like this idea would absolutely work.

IKEA's Billy Bookcases Can Be Many Things

If you've never considered just how versatile this piece can be, consider this... we've seen people turn their Billy bookcases into a variety of pieces for use all around the house.

There was this woman who used two of the smaller versions of the design to create the coolest espresso bar .

Then there was this man who solved the problem of having his tools all over the place by creating some hidden storage using his IKEA bookcases. He even added wheels so that he could move the case around where he needed easiest access to it.

And speaking of adding wheels, you're definitely going to want to see how this man hacked the bookcases by turning them into a sliding pantry which he was able to fit directly next to his refrigerator!

If it wasn't clear before, it should absolutely be now — these bookcases can do just about anything.

Now all we have to do is figure out how we can copy the OP's design in our own home so that we can take advantage of her brilliance!
