An Atlantic County brewery will raise money for a rescue and rehabilitation center for displaced marine life next month. Hidden Sands Brewing Company is hosting a ticketed "Suds for Seals" fundraiser on Thursday, Aug. 15, in its Egg Harbor Township taproom. The evening benefits the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, the Brigantine nonprofit that cares for seals, sea turtles and other ocean animals in distress.

Last weekend certainly was a busy one here in Sea Isle City. In addition to the many people who were in town enjoying Sea Isle’s beaches, businesses and other attractions, many folks were here to attend several special events, including the Sandy Sprint Run-Walk, which raised money for the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation, VFW Post 1963’s annual Dollar Dog Day, which benefited our nation’s veterans and active duty military members, the 2024 Steve Libro Men’s Basketball Tournament, which attracted many talented players, and the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol’s annual 1-Mile Ocean Swim, which featured over 200 competitors, who raced into the ocean and swam from 62nd Street to the 44th Street beach.
Somers Point’s “Run to Remember” Set for Sept. 7
A 5K race will be held Sept. 7 through the scenic Country Club neighborhood of Somers Point in honor of all the first responders who were lost on 9/11. The “Run to Remember” will start at 9 a.m. in John F. Kennedy Park. It is presented by Shore True Value Hardware with the Somers Point Historical Society in conjunction with The Somers Point Good Old Days Festival Organizing Committee.
Night in Venice brings island vibes to Ocean City
Summertime vibes were felt all around Ocean City on Saturday night as the 69th Annual Night in Venice Parade sailed along the bayside. Tens of thousands lined the parade route to catch a glimpse of the excitement. This year’s theme paid tribute to the late Jimmy Buffett, best known for such hits as “Margaritaville”, and “Cheeseburger in Paradise”.
