Plane Crash at Battle Lake Airport Involving 4-Year-Old Passenger
Battle Lake, MN – Just after noon on Saturday (August 31st), the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department responded to a plane crash in Battle Lake. According to officials, the single propeller “Piper Super Cub” airplane was preparing to land at the Battle Lake Airport for the 18th Annual Gathering of Airplanes, an organized fly-in. As the 41-year-old male pilot from Kindred, North Dakota approached the landing strip, the plane lost power and the pilot was forced to put it down in a nearby corn field. The airplane initially touched down before flipping onto its top.
Man Broke Into Multiple Ottertail Businesses, Now Paying Over $5,000 in Restitution
Ottertail, MN – A man involved in the burglary of multiple businesses has plead guilty in exchange for minimal prison time, but owes the businesses over $5,000. According to court documents, 22-year-old Alexander James Goeller of Blaine and three juveniles were involved in a string of break-ins that occurred on June 7th, 2023 in the City of Ottertail and Wadena. They had forced entry into the buildings and stole items worth multiple thousands of dollars, including a Ram Van. The following day, Goeller and his fellow suspects were part of a high speed chase in Mahnomen County, and were eventually detained, where they confessed to having broke into the four businesses.
