The 57th Annual Port Lavaca Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet once again highlighted several people and businesses in the local community for their efforts to make Port Lavaca a better place.

Held on April 23, this year’s banquet zeroed in on Port Lavaca’s identity abroad with the theme of “What’s Our Hook,” which asked attendees to think about what makes their city special — and in turn, recognize the people who make the city what it is. The awards started with the United Way’s Spirit of Caring award, which was given to Jody Weaver, who as Port Lavaca city manager helped implement the United Way Born Learning Trail into City Park.
