Kinky Friedman, provocative satirist and one-time gubernatorial candidate, dies at 79
Richard “Kinky” Friedman — the provocative and flamboyant Texas satirist who mounted a spirited campaign for governor in 2006 — has died. He was 79. Friedman died at his longtime home at Echo Hill Ranch in Medina, said his friends Cleve Hattersley, in an interview, and Kent Perkins, on social media. He had Parkinson’s disease, Hattersley said.

New bus route could be coming for TWU students living in off-campus apartments
The Denton County Transportation Authority may add bus stops by August at two off-campus student apartments for students attending Texas Woman’s University. DCTA CEO Paul Cristina told the board of directors on Thursday morning that buses will potentially run from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, with a 20-minute frequency at the Arch Denton and Redpoint apartments. Both complexes are near Fort Worth Drive at Interstate 35E.
