    A battle over P&Z and social media: Denton mayor forgoes precedent and council rules for nominee

    Should making derogatory or vitriolic posts or memes on social media disqualify you from public service on boards and commissions? What if you were simply making “quick, of-the-moment responses,” joking or trolling (baiting someone to react) when you shared the post?

    Those are questions Denton City Council members have been wrestling with since September. The examples they’ve given have come from the social media posts of a former council member and a recent council candidate.
