Avalanche should have Kings sniper on radar

The Colorado Avalanche will likely look to add to their forward group this offseason. They have several unrestricted free-agent forwards entering the summer, with Jonathan Drouin, Andrew Cogliano, Yakov Trenin, Brandon Duhaime, and Joel Kiviranta being them.

With the Avalanche having so many free agents, there is a decent chance that they will make some changes to their roster for 2024-25. However, given their cap situation, they are also not currently in a position to bring in top free agents like Sam Reinhart and Jake Guentzel. They will instead likely go for bargain players.

When looking at this year's free agency class, one player they should consider taking a flier on is Los Angeles Kings forward Viktor Arvidsson. After dealing with injury trouble for much of the season, the 31-year-old could be had at an affordable price.

Arvidsson is undoubtedly a player worth taking a shot on, as he has had a good amount of success in the league as a middle-six forward. This season, when healthy, was more of the same. In 18 regular-season games this year with the Kings, he had six goals and 15 points. He then followed that up with three helpers in five playoff games.

If the Avalanche signed Arvidsson, he could form a nice one-two punch with playmaker Casey Mittelstadt on the second line. In addition, Arvidsson would be an obvious choice for the Avalanche's power play.

Nevertheless, with the Avalanche's middle six needing a boost, Arvidsson would be a strong pickup for them. Let's see if they make a push for him this summer from here.
