    Report: Denver pays some of the highest monthly bills in the country

    DENVER ( KDVR ) — If it feels expensive in Denver, that’s because it is. Based on a new report, Denver is one of the most expensive cities to pay monthly bills.

    Doxo released its “Cost of Bills Index” in each state and major city in the country. The index consists of household bills like utilities, cable and phone, auto loans, insurance, alarm and security, rent and mortgage.

    According to the study, Colorado pays some of the highest bills in the country with the average amount spent every month estimated around $2,553. This is the ninth-highest amount paid throughout the states and about 20% higher than the national average.

    That said, Denver pays even more in bills.

    Denver pays about $200 more in monthly bills than Colorado overall, which is about 29% above the national average.

    Denver not only pays more in bills than the rest of Colorado, but people in the city also do not make as much money yearly. In Colorado, the average person makes $91,038, according to the study. However, the average income in Denver totals $86,926.

    Why taxpayers may get extra money in their TABOR refunds next year

    Other cities around the country tend to be the same or even more when it comes to bills. The difference is the average income, which is much higher than Denver.

    While places like Seattle and Washington, D.C., only cost a few hundred dollars more in bills to live in, these cities’ average incomes are at least $10,000 higher than Denver.
