Colorado Avalanche to kick off 2024-2025 season with a trip to Vegas

DENVER ( KDVR ) – The National Hockey League season may have only ended a week ago, but Colorado Avalanche fans are already looking toward next season.

The Avs’ season ended with disappointment for fans, with the team being eliminated by the Dallas Stars in the second round.

That countdown starts now, with the release of the Colorado Avalanche 2024-2025 season schedule .

The Avs kick off their season on Oct. 9 on the road against the Vegas Golden Knights. Three nights later, on Oct. 12, the Avalanche have their home opener against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Notable home games for the Avs include visits from the Boston Bruins on Oct. 16, the Utah Hockey Club on Dec. 12, the Winnipeg Jets on New Year’s Eve, the Florida Panthers on Jan. 6 and the Stars on Jan. 18.

The team’s announcement on X includes Bernie, the team’s mascot, participating in an egg-drop challenge as the schedule for games against different opponents appears on the screen.

For the Golden Knights, Bernie drops a golden egg then, for the Blackhawks, he drops the egg in a deep-dish pizza box. This continues for a handful of other teams the Avs will face before Bernie safely drops an egg in a Ball Arena aluminum cup with a parachute.
