FED-UP drivers have been left with nowhere to park due to the street being blocked off for construction work for weeks.

The construction work occurred in a Denver, Colorado , neighborhood in February and even caused tons of people to be towed in front of their own homes .

Resident Sammi Jeffery explained how the signs would be up for weeks at a time and when no work was being done, causing frustration.

Street parking is the only option for some residents in the Denver neighborhood as well.

This led residents to take their chances and park on the street when no work was being done.

“It’s ridiculous, honestly, because they will put up these signs that we can’t park for X amount of days, but they’re not always working every day,” Jeffery told Fox affiliate KDVR in February.

“I mean, I’m not going to not park on my street where I live.

    “I don’t have a garage to use.”

    NEVER ENDING

Another resident, Dave Everhart, said the construction work is inconsistent and workers show up abruptly.

“It could happen at any time, so we are supposed to be out of our house or off the street for 7-10 days with no clear focus on when the work is actually going to happen,” Everhart said.

The contractors, Xcel Energy, had the proper permits and called for towing the morning when they came out, Nancy Kuhn, a spokesperson for Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, told KDVR.

However, she explained the area has had a lot of work done lately and can understand residents’ frustration.

“I think what we’re experiencing here are people who have experienced a lot of work in the area, a lot of new builds and work happening, and there’s probably some fatigue on that,” DOTI’s Nancy Kuhn said.

“I know that they had the no-parking signs on the block for a while now, and they’re going in as they can to get the work done.

Everyone around here would probably be 50-75 less angry if someone made the effort to communicate.

    Resident Dave Everhart

“So I imagine what we have happening here is people beginning to just ignore the signs because they aren’t seeing the work happening.”

Kuhn wasn’t able to stop the towing, but she did inform the contractors of the resident’s complaints.

“We let them know what’s happening out there and that we have some upset residents, and we’re going to encourage that contractor to be a good neighbor and kind of think things through and just make them aware of the residents’ frustrations,” Kuhn said.

The work must get done so the city can’t intervene in some areas.

But the DOTI said it will now send an inspector out if any residents suspect the work is taking too long.

Everhart insisted he and other residents would appreciate more communication about the construction near their homes.

“Everyone around here would probably be 50-75 less angry if someone made the effort to communicate,” Everhart said.

“‘Hey we’re gonna be working on your street, might want to prepare for this.’”
