By the Numbers: UFC on ESPN 59

Rose Namajunas is finding her groove at 125 pounds.

The former Ultimate Fighting Championship strawweight queen earned her second consecutive flyweight victory, besting Tracy Cortez via unanimous decision in the UFC on ESPN 59 headliner at Ball Arena in Denver on Saturday night. “Thug” Rose was unfazed by a short-notice opponent change from Maycee Barber to Cortez, and as a result, has moved closer to her ultimate goal of becoming a two-division champion. Cortez, meanwhile, fought valiantly but nonetheless saw a five-bout promotional winning streak come to an end.

11: Career victories in UFC competition for Namajunas. That ties her with Katlyn Cerminara and Gillian Robertson for the sixth-most wins among women in any weight class. Namajunas picked up her second triumph at 125 pounds on Saturday night.

.530: Significant striking accuracy for Namajunas, who landed 96 of 180 attempts. Cortez was far less efficient, landing 58 of 198 attempts — a 29% success rate.

5: Takedowns landed in five attempts for Namajunas, the most she has landed in the Octagon since she took Paige VanZant down eight times at UFC Fight Night 80 in December 2015.

9: Unofficial media scorecards, of the 13 tracked by MMADecisions.com , that awarded the welterweight co-main event between Santiago Ponzinibbio and Muslim Salikhov to Ponzinibbio. Judges Dean Abeyta and Eric Colon saw things differently, submitting 29-28 tallies in favor of Salikhov to give the Dagestani a split-decision triumph.

14: Days between wins for Jean Silva , who earned a third-round TKO against Drew Dober just two weeks after knocking out Charles Jourdain at UFC 303. That ties Silva with Sean Strickland and Chris Leben for the third quickest turnaround between UFC wins in modern promotional history. Only Khamzat Chimaev (10 days) and Chas Skelly (13 days) have made quicker turnarounds.

3: Consecutive KO/TKO victories for Silva, tying him with Alex Pereira and Steve Garcia for the longest active knockout streak in the promotion.

1: Time going the distance in 17 professional appearances for Gabriel Bonfim , who earned a three-round verdict over Ange Loosa in a featured middleweight affair. The Brazilian rebounded from his first career defeated by outlanding his foe 101-52 in significant strikes and stuffing nine of Loosa’s 13 takedowns.

25: Finishes among 30 professional victories for Julian Erosa , who submitted Christian Rodriguez with a guillotine choke 4:49 into Round 1 of their featherweight bout. It was Erosa’s second consecutive triumph via guillotine choke.

22: Significant strike advantage for Abdul Razak Alhassan before his bout against Cody Brundage was ended 37 seconds into Round 1 due to illegal strikes to the back of the head.

3-0: Record for Charles Johnson in 2024 after his third-round knockout victory against Joshua Van in their preliminary flyweight bout. That success comes on the heels of a 2023 campaign where “InnerG” went 1-3 in UFC competition.

88: Significant strikes landed by Johnson. By comparison, Van landed 67. Johnson outlanded his foe 44 to 22 in Round 1 and 8 to 1 in Round 3. Van, meanwhile, held a 44-to-36 advantage in Round 2.

0:18: Time of Montel Jackson ’s knockout of Da'Mon Blackshear . That checks in as the second fastest finish of UFC bantamweight history behind Erik Perez ’s 17-second stoppage of Ken Stone at UFC 150.

7: Straight fights in which Jackson has landed a knockdown. By flooring Blackshear, “Quick” tied Chuck Liddell , Quinton Jackson , Cody Garbrandt and Josh Emmett for the UFC record in this category.

11: Career knockdowns overall for Jackson, the most in UFC history at 135 pounds.

5: Consecutive victories for Jackson, the third-longest active winning streak in the bantamweight division behind Merab Dvalishvili (nine) and Mario Bautista (six).

7: Submission attempts allowed by Mariya Agapova in her last three UFC appearances, all of which ended in defeat. Luana Santos attempted three submissions en route to forcing a tap via rear-naked choke to hand Agapova her third straight submission loss.

12:50: Total control time for Andre Petroski in a unanimous decision triumph over Josh Fremd at middleweight. The Renzo Gracie Philly product landed three of four takedowns and attempted one submission in the methodical effort.

22: Career takedowns in eight UFC appearances for Petroski. That ranks seventh among active middleweights in the promotion.
