WalletHub recently published a data analysis looking at the best and worst cities for recreation in 2024. Two Colorado cities were included in the results.

To create the rankings, WalletHub compared a sample of the 100 most populated U.S. cities across four key dimensions, which were entertainment and recreational facilities, costs, quality of parks, and weather, using 47 metrics. The metrics included things such as number of attractions, music venues, movie costs, and more.

Metrics were graded on a 100-point scale, with 100 representing the highest level of recreation-friendliness. Researchers then determined each city's weighted average across all metrics to calculate the overall scores.

With a overall score of 52.41, Denver ended up in 14th place. The Mile High City ranked 14th for entertainment and recreational facilities, 75th for costs, 16th for quality of parks, and 64th for weather.

Denver is a paradise for outdoor adventure. As well as opportunities for activities like bowling, movies, museums, and more, the city is in close proximity to some of Colorado's most breathtaking nature. You'll find world-class ski resorts within an hour and a half drive from Denver, as well as some equally great hiking, biking, rafting, and much more.

Colorado Springs was also included on the list with an overall score of 44.32 and a rank of 70th. The below-average ranking may seem odd to local residents, with Colorado Springs home to many outdoor spaces and iconic landmarks, including Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, and Red Rock Canyon Open Space. The city also has plenty of opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, scenic drives, and more.
