The Colorado Avalanche have made a small move, acquiring goaltender Kevin Mandolese and a 2026 seventh-round pick from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.

Mandolese, 23, is currently a restricted free agent, and the Avalanche have secured his signing rights from this move.

The Senators selected Mandolese with the 157th overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. While with the Senators organization, he primarily played in the AHL. He did, however, appear in three games for Ottawa during the 2022-23 season, posting a 1-2-0 record, a 3.29 goals-against average, and a .916 save percentage.

Mandolese spent the entirety of this season in the minors and did not make an appearance for Ottawa. In 23 games with the Belleville Senators of the AHL, he posted a 10-9-2 record, a 3.07 GAA, and a .901 SV%. He also had a .918 SV% in two games for the ECHL's Allen Americans.

With this move, the Avalanche have brought in a young goaltender to add depth. When noting that they only have Alexander Georgiev, Justus Annunen, and Trent Miner currently signed, they needed to add to their depth. Mandolese will do just that.
