    Matt meets SLASH as Rock icon kicks off summer tour, stop in Denver

    (DENVER) — Celebrating his sixth solo and star-studded blues album titled, Orgy of the Damned , iconic, GRAMMY® Award-winning guitarist and songwriter SLASH, is making a stop in Colorado as part of his S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival Blues tour.

    To preview what fans can expect, FOX21 Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Matt Meister, interviewed SLASH before his performance set to take place in Denver on Wednesday, July 17 at The Mission Ballroom , beginning at 7 p.m.

    “What’s important in Blues, Rock and Roll, and Jazz and a lot of ensemble-driven music, is that you have that energy of the band working together,” SLASH said when asked about his new album, which features 12 songs. “You put the same amount of effort into all of the [songs] and they are all uniquely different.”

    According to a press release shared with FOX21, the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival stands for; S olidarity, E ngagement, R estore, P eace, E quality N’ T olerance, and was “designed by SLASH with maximum social impact in mind.”

    SLASH chose five nonprofits to benefit from tour proceeds which include; the National Alliance on Mental Illness, The Equal Justice Initiative, Know Your Rights Camp, The Greenlining Institute, and War Child.

    “…I really felt like, if we are going to do this festival, I wanted to give back in some way and we are using it as a vehicle for charities,” said SLASH. “I’m looking forward to the Denver show; we are going to actually record it live and it will probably be on a record and video… and is the only show that we are recording.”
