New onramp near Denver airport cell phone waiting area makes it easier to pick up passengers

Picking someone up at the Denver airport just got a little easier.

Denver International Airport on Thursday announced a new onramp that takes drivers onto inbound Peña Boulevard toward the Jeppesen Terminal will open Friday.

It means drivers can now exit Peña Boulevard and wait in the cell phone waiting lot at the Final Approach waiting area, which is located at 7680 Wenatchee St. and then quickly and easily continue to the airport when the time is right.

The Final Approach facility has a food court, gas station, restrooms, convenience store, WiFi and big screens that display flight information.

With the new onramp open, drivers can now exit the cell phone waiting lot and head east on 77th Avenue, which used to be a one-way road that only allowed drivers to travel west, then turn right on N. Gun Club Road, and then left onto the new onramp to inbound Peña Boulevard. It's about three miles from the Jeppesen Terminal.

A Denver airport spokesperson said the opening of the new onramp marks the end of the Gun Club Road widening project.
