DENVER (KDVR) — A nonprofit in Denver is running low on resources to help the city’s homeless population and leaders are asking for the community’s help to keep things going.

Candice Marley started All Souls Denver with a longstanding desire to help others.

“I’m a Denver native and I’ve been working with the unhoused ever since I was in high school,” she said.

All Souls launched late in 2023 and moved to its current home in the Five Points neighborhood earlier this year. It’s a food pantry and more, giving out clothes, strollers, bikes and much more for the many who need help.

“We service about 200 migrants a week,” said Marley.

Recently, All Souls served nearly 200 people in one day. The number of hungry mouths stressed the organization, and Marley hopes the community can help fill the gap.

“We are out of food within the first hour of opening our doors,” she said.

They’re looking for donations of items like white rice, black beans, ramen noodles and bread. Marley says to think of things you may take camping.

“Cans that can open quickly, not needing tools, or things that can be eaten without a stove are particularly helpful,” said Marley. “And then fresh fruits. We are always short, and all the food banks are short, on fresh fruits.”

Bottled water and popsicles are also much needed in the hot weather. Collections of these items are all to fill empty shelves and serve even more people.

“We hope that we can expand that to thousands per week incoming,” said Marley.

All Souls gives people in need much more than just food.

“Just the simplest thing helps these individuals feel loved and like they belong in the community,” said Marley.

All Souls is located at 2852 Welton Street in Denver and items can be donated on Mondays and Wednesdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Marley says donors are also welcome to leave donations on the porch if All Souls is closed.
