    Denver weather: Another round of heat then afternoon showers Friday

    Denver is forecast for another round of hot temperatures and afternoon showers Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

    There's a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon. Expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 90 degrees. Winds from the northwest will roll through the area between 5 and 10 mph, with gusts reaching upwards of 18 mph.

    Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening across north central and northeast Colorado," the NWS said. "There is a slight chance of severe storms across the northeast corner of Colorado, with hail up to the size of golf ball and wind gusts to 60 mph possible with the strongest storms in the mid afternoon."

    Looking ahead to Friday night, a 30% chance of showers continues through 8 p.m. Expect partly cloudy skies and a low of 64 degrees.

    A chance for showers and thunderstorms remains in the forecast through the weekend with highs projected to remain in the mid to low 80s.

    Saturday: There's a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast after 9 a.m. Expect partly cloudy skies and a high of 86 degrees.

    Sunday: There's a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Expect mostly cloudy skies and a high of 81 degrees.

    Monday: There's a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast after noon. Expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 82 degrees.

    Tuesday: There's a slight chance for showers in the forecast. Expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 86 degrees.
