Red Sox at Rockies picks and predictions
Prediction
Red Sox 8, Rockies 3
PASS.
I’ve got the Red Sox (-180) winning this game but I’m staying away from that moneyline. I’m not willing to pay all that juice.
BET RED SOX -1.5 (-120).
Boston is facing a far inferior team and angry after getting swept in L.A. There is no way they don’t take at least 2 of 3 in this series. They’ve also got their All-Star Houck on the mound and he should have no problem handling this Rockies lineup, even in Coors. He has allowed 2 ER or less in 4 of his last 5 starts.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are throwing out Gomber, who has allowed at least 4 ER in 6 of his last 7 starts. He has 1 win since the the start of June. Colorado has a 5.34 team ERA at home this season. The Red Sox have got to be licking their chops to face Gomber and this Rockies pitching staff.
BET OVER 10 (-115).
I will say that this is a lukewarm recommendation. I believe the Red Sox will score their runs but I don’t know how much Colorado will put up against Houck and company.
The Over has hit in 7 of their last 10 meetings (all but 2 of those games were in Boston). The Over has also hit in 5 of Gomber’s last 7 starts.
