DENVER ( KDVR ) — On Monday, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston will deliver his first State of the City address following his first year in office.

Johnston will address the city beginning at 11 a.m. at a different location than in years past. The address has often been delivered from the Colorado Capitol building, but this time, Johnston will speak from the Paramount Theatre in the Central Business District.

The event will be livestreamed in the player above.

During his address, Johnston is expected to talk about his first year and his plans for the future.

“This event will bring together the Denver City Council, local leaders and the public to hear Mayor Johnston’s reflections on where we’ve come during his first year in office, as well as his plans to keep our city safe, vibrant and affordable in the year ahead,” said Johnston’s office.

1 year in, is the mayor’s plan to reduce homelessness in Denver working?

One of Johnston’s top priorities in his first year was tackling the homelessness issue in Denver.

In the last year, more than 1,600 people have moved off the street and into a shelter, according to a new report called the All in Mile High Report released Wednesday by Denver Mayor Mike Johnston’s office.

The report said all 16 large tent encampments are permanently closed. The report also showed that 1,673 people moved off the street and into a shelter for at least two weeks. Of those, 1,375 are still sheltered and 583 moved to permanent housing.

Aside from homelessness, Johnston is also expected to talk about safety and attracting more people to downtown Denver.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. and Johnston is expected to speak at 11:40 a.m.
