DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Fire Department responded to a building collapse that injured a construction worker Monday afternoon in Denver’s Highland neighborhood.

The collapse was at a three-story apartment building in the area of 30th Avenue and Vallejo Street.

The construction worker was taken to a local hospital by personal vehicle after the collapse, but the extent of their injuries was unknown.

According to the department, a stairway and exterior balcony that were under construction collapsed.

The City and County of Denver told FOX31 that the company working on the balcony did not have a permit for the construction and that a violation notice would be issued.
