RiNo Art District’s new hire aims to boost foot traffic in the neighborhood

The River North Art District hired an exhibition curator from the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art to be the organization’s new program manager, the neighborhood nonprofit announced last week.

Kiah Butcher joins the RiNo Art District as their program manager to boost community engagement and foot traffic to the neighborhood.

Her job will focus on developing and managing events in the neighborhood. Butcher is an artist, specializing in film, and has experience working with the Colorado art community, according to Alye Sharpe, RiNo Art District’s executive director of programs and partnerships.

“We’re excited to have Kiah’s support as we reinforce RiNo’s position as a destination for artists, businesses, and residents,” Sharp said in a statement.

She previously worked at BMoCA for seven years organizing exhibits.

The RiNo Art District is a nonprofit that formed the neighborhood’s Business Improvement District and General Improvement District — areas that collect tax revenues to fund its own infrastructure upgrades and beautification projects.

“The RiNo Art District has such a strong reputation for being a community where both artists and businesses thrive,” Butcher said in a statement, “and I’m excited to help contribute to making RiNo an even more inspiring place to live, work, and play, while growing and celebrating Denver's rich arts and culture.”

Swiss watch boutique opening in Cherry Creek

Tudor, a Switzerland-based luxury watchmaker, fully opened a boutique in Denver at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center last week.

The new, 500-square-foot store was opened in partnership with The 1916 Company, formerly known as the Hyde Park Jewelers. Tudor is owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation — the same parent company as Rolex — and was founded in 1926.

Tudor reentered the U.S. market in 2013 after exiting the country around 2004. The chain has eight boutique locations in the country designed to further the brand’s identity, according to its website.

“Tudor has been an important partner of ours since its return to the U.S. market over 10 years ago,” said Damon Gross, president of The 1916 Company, in a statement. “We're looking forward to building upon this foundation and sharing our enthusiasm for the brand in a special environment.”

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays. On Sundays, it's open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The new Denver boutique “reinforces” Tudor’s presence in the U.S., the company stated.
