DENVER (KDVR) — The smoky skies will be sticking around for another day in Denver weather and across eastern Colorado.

The smoke is coming from wildfires burning in Canada. The flow over Colorado is dragging the smoke into the atmosphere. However, according to Pinpoint Weather, Colorado’s Most Accurate Forecast, the flow is expected to shift come Thursday and will help disperse the smoke, making for cleaner-looking skies.

Weather tonight: Mostly clear, cool and comfortable

There may be one or two stray showers over the mountain peaks early Tuesday evening. Otherwise, skies will be clear across the state. The wind will be light and generally from a southerly direction.

Temperatures look to be refreshing in the Colorado high country with overnight lows in the 40s and 50s. It will also be comfortable again across the eastern plains and metro Denver with expected lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Weather tomorrow: Smoky, hazy with hotter temperatures

Temperatures are forecast to be a little hotter on Wednesday with slightly above normal readings in the middle to upper 90s for Denver and the Front Range. The hottest temperatures will be out west near Grand Junction with 100-degree heat possible.

There will be some passing afternoon clouds and a few stray showers mainly in the mountains and south of Denver across the Palmer Divide in places like Castle Rock and Monument.

Looking ahead: Rain chances return by the end of the week

Showers and thunderstorm chances arrive on Friday into Saturday. There doesn’t appear to be a great chance for needed moisture. The storms will be scattered and mainly in the late afternoon and early evening. An isolated shower is possible on Sunday, but most places will stay dry.

Denver has the worst air quality in the US on Tuesday, among worst in the world

Temperatures will dip into the low 90s for a few days with the showers in the forecast. Then the region will heat back into the upper 90s early next week as the area dries out again.
