The New York Yankees inquired about a potential blockbuster deal at the MLB trade deadline, but it seems like it won't come to fruition.

According to Jorge Castillo of ESPN , the Yankees inquired about a potential trade for Colorado Rockies All-Star third baseman Ryan McMahon.

However, the Rockies made it clear to the Yankees that McMahon was not available for trade, per Castillo.

Making a blockbuster trade for McMahon would solve the Yankees' issues at third base both now and in the short-term future.

McMahon is enjoying a strong season thus far in his first as an All-Star. The 29-year-old has a .270 average, 14 home runs, 45 RBI, 21 doubles and a .797 OPS in 98 games.

His 93.5 mph average exit velocity sits in the 96th percentile while his 53.2% hard-hit rate is in the 95th percentile. He also draws plenty of walks with a strong 11.4% walk rate — 22nd among qualified MLB hitters.

It would have been an expensive deal but the type of trade that would have helped immensely as the Yankees look to end their 14-year drought as World Series champions.
