Denver Broncos have potentially horrible injury already, making previous decision look even worse

Just three days into training camp, it appears the Denver Broncos have an injury that they can ill afford to have. Free-agent safety Brandon Jones is hurt and though the severity of that injury has yet to be determined, it's a potentially bad omen.

Jones, who the Broncos signed this offseason, appears to have tweaked his hamstring.

A hamstring injury can be one of the most frustrating for an NFL player (ask Greg Dulcich). It is an injury that is hard to get under control and how soon a player can return to the field is often hard to determine. The Broncos have to hope that Jones is not going to be forced to miss extended time.

Given the news that both Caden Sterns and Delarrin Turner-Yell have started camp on the PUP list , the Broncos could have a problem.

Former Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons is still available

If Jones is going to miss any great length of time, the Broncos are going to need to bring in a reinforcement of some sort. But the idea of turning back to Justin Simmons will have to be kicked around as well.

The Broncos released Simmons in a cost-cutting move this offseason and the two-time Pro Bowler has yet to sign with a new team. But would he even have any interest in playing for Denver at this point?

The Broncos may have a lot to consider and could be sitting on pins and needles waiting for an official diagnosis on the status of Jones.
