We’re nearing the end stages of our wet July. We’ve had on and off rain chances pretty much every day for over a week, but its been a welcome change to the typical hot-humid-afternoon-thunderstorm type of July we normally get. For those who love the rainy days, sadly, it’ll be a little while before something like this will happen again.

Rain should continue to diminish overnight with only a few light showers possible. The forecast will be very similar over the next few days until the heat and sunshine return for most of the region beginning next week.

Humidity levels have been creeping higher since Saturday and we are going to be back in the soup for today as well as the week ahead. We will also be dealing with a series of waves moving around the Bermuda high. It is building into the Southeastern US. A southwest flow aloft is bringing up ripples in the flow. It will not be raining all the time but there will be some downpours and a few heavier thunderstorms to deal with during the week ahead.

Many return to street encampments when their time in the pallet shelter runs out, Jessica Prosser, homeless services director for the city, said. Then, the city sweeps the encampment again, and they get to come back to the shelter for another 30 days, Prosser explained. This process can repeat multiple times.
