On August 3, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation is set to hold its annual 'Missing in Colorado' event at Denver's Lowry Conference Center. The event is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is aimed to provide families of those who are missing with the opportunity to provide additional information to investigators, including photos, dental records, DNA, and otherwise.

Leading up to the event, the CBI has released a few statistics to show why an event of this nature is so crucial.

According to the CBI, there are currently 1,278 active missing persons cases in Colorado. Based on what's been observed in the past, close to half of those missing persons are expected to still be missing a year from now.

“Building on the success of last year’s event, the CBI team is committed to ensuring the families of the missing have access to the latest information and tools to help them as they navigate through this devastating chapter in their lives,” said CBI Director Chris Schaefer.

CBI has also encouraged the public to visit the ' CBI Cold Case Database ' in case someone might have information that could help solve one of those cases, many of which involve missing people.

Those who have a missing family member are encouraged to visit the Missing Person(s) Resource Page .
