HAMMOND, Ind. (WNDU) - A beacon of educational excellence and innovation for the last 25 years in Hammond is getting nearly $1 million in funding. Indiana 1st District Congressman Frank Mrvan and board members of the Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana announced that the center will receive $963,000 in community project funding during a news conference on Friday morning.
Opioid settlement fund fuels anti-addiction battle in Indiana
Indiana is stepping up its fight against addiction with a boost from an opioid settlement fund. The money comes from a $54 billion 2021 Opioid Settlement Fund created by manufacturers, distributors and retailers to address their role in the nation's opioid epidemic. CENTERVILLE TOPS AREA SCHOOLS FOR PERCENTAGE OF COLLEGE-READY JUNIORS
(Centerville, IN)--SAT results have been released for students who were high school juniors in the spring. According to the state’s new numbers, 284 students at Richmond took the SAT. Of those, 134, or just shy of half, fell below the benchmark of being deemed to be college-ready. 43% tested as being college-ready. Elsewhere across the Whitewater Valley, the highest percentage of college-ready high school juniors was in Centerville, with 66% ready based on their SAT results. Randolph Southern was on the other end of the spectrum, with 30% ready.
