NC man arrested for brutal beating of his own mother

A North Carolina man is in custody after being accused of trying to kill his own mother. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported assault at a home in Denver, North Carolina.

Deputies say that 58 year old, Lynard Edward Hunter attacked his 77 year old mother and called 9-1-1 to report the incident. Upon arrival, deputies took Hunter into custody and the victim was transported to the hospital.

The woman suffered severe injuries to her head and body. Investigators say, Hunter admitted he was angry with his mother and began to beat her. He's charged with attempted murder and is being held without bond.
