Man Dies After Collins Motorcycle Crash
A motorcycle crash in the Town of Collins has claimed a life. State Police on patrol saw a motorcycle off Zoar Valley Road near Otto Road shortly before 12:30 PM Saturday and determined that the motorcycle was traveling east on Zoar Valley Road when it lost control after running over gravel and ultimately struck a ditch. Troopers say this caused the operator, 68-year-old Mark Burkholder of Amherst, to be thrown from the motorcycle. Troopers applied live-saving measures on scene and were later assisted by Gowanda EMS for his head and neck injuries. Burkholder was transported to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville, but was ultimately pronounced dead. His body was transported to the Erie County Medical Examiner's Office for a pending autopsy.
