    Severe weather in Iowa Friday evening may cool down temperatures for the weekend

    The bad news? National Weather Service in Des Moines said much of Iowa will see more risks of severe weather on Friday. The good news? It'll bring slightly cooler temperatures and some nice weekend weather.

    What's Iowa's severe weather outlook for Friday?

    The primary risks on Friday in central Iowa are damaging winds and large hail. There will be more heavy rainfall, so there are some isolated risks for flash floods, but they are low at this time, NWS said.

    What time does the forecast show rain, storms in Iowa?

    Much of Iowa will see non-severe showers and storms Friday morning. Strong to severe storms are expected to develop from 3 to 10 p.m.

    How much rain could Iowa get?

    Isolated heavy rainfall of 1-2 inches is possible, according to the NWS. Around half an inch to an inch is forecasted in Des Moines.

    What's the weekend forecast in Iowa? Expect cooler temperatures

    Saturday temperatures will reach a high of 82 in Des Moines with sunny skies, the NWS forecasts, with a low of 56 at night.

    Sunday should bring even cooler temperatures with a high of 77 degrees in Des Moines. Sunday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 60.
