    How much rain did we get? Here are the latest Iowa rainfall totals with more forecast.

    Iowa has gotten off to a rainy start for July. And, if you are staying in the state for the holiday, it may rain on your Fourth of July parade.

    Heavy rain and severe weather remain possible across the state for Tuesday creating a risk for flash flooding.

    So how much rain did we get so far and how much more is coming?

    How much rain did Des Moines get?

    As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, Des Moines had more than an inch of rain and was one of the Iowa cities that saw the most rainfall. The majority of the storms occurred in the south central and south east corners of the state.

    Where in Iowa had the most rain?

    These three towns in Iowa had the most rainfall between Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Rain was still falling across eastern parts of the state on Tuesday morning.

    • Council Bluffs: 2.45 inches
    • Des Moines: 1.35 inches
    • Atlantic: 1.05 inches

    Will there be more rain this week?

    Yes, rain is supposed to continue throughout Tuesday with thunderstorms possible in the evening for central Iowa. Wednesday could see a break from the rain with only a 20% chance of rain during the night. As for the holiday, thunderstorms are possible before and after 4 p.m., according to the Des Moines National Weather Service.
